We’ve all been waiting for this for SO LONG – and now, it looks like it may finally actually be happening!
That’s right, folks: The Black Widow movie may be well on its way to our screens!!!
Since she first appeared in 2010’s Iron Man 2, Natasha Romanoff – played by Scarlett Johansson – has made a huge, huge impact on audiences all over the world. And we have all been eagerly waiting for Scarlett’s kickass superhero to be showcased in her own solo vehicle.
In fact, the clamor has been so loud that Marvel’s President Kevin Feige was prompted to address it in 2016. He told Deadline back then:
“Of the characters [in Captain America: Civil War] I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow. We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a stand-alone franchise.”
The lack of a spot in Marvel’s movieverse timeline has been disheartening – however, there finally seems to be movement, as the studio has just hired writer Jac Schaeffer to work on a script for the film.
One step closer, guys!!!
