That’s right! Captain America doesn’t just save the world, he saves dogs too. The Avengers superhero has a real-life sidekick – and he’s standing tall and proud on four legs!
In case you haven’t heard, Chris Evans is a dog dad. He adopted a sweet mixed-breed boxer named Dodger from a shelter while he was filming the movie “Gifted”. “One of the last scenes we were filming was in a pound, a kennel,” he told PEOPLE. “So I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude and he didn’t belong there. I snagged him and he’s such a good dog. They aged him at about one, he acts like a puppy, he’s got the energy of a puppy, he’s just such a sweetheart, he’s such a good boy. He loves dogs, he loves kids, he’s full of love.”
The 36-year-old heartthrob took to Twitter on April 11, also known as National Pet Day, to share the heartwarming moment when he and his adorable rescue pup, Dodger, met for the first time.
The aww-inducing video clip was captioned: “This is the moment we met. He was trying so hard to stay seated even though he desperately wanted to get out. I knew right away that he was coming home with me, so I took this video to always remember our first hello. Rescue dogs are the best dogs!! #NationalPetDay.”
And if you need more proof how much he loves his fur-kid, just check out his Twitter feed. In fact, last September, Chris shared a video of him and his playful canine companion reuniting after 10 weeks of filming on location. Dodger could hardly contain himself, tackling Chris to the ground and licking his face nonstop.
