Two-time Emmy award-winning choreographer and World of Dance judge, admits to having two left feet when it comes to being in front of his fellow judge on the show, Jennifer Lopez.

“I’ve kind of banned myself from dancing with Jennifer because I’m such a klutz when I get around her,” Derek told Jimmy Fallon when he guested on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

To that, the host agreed, “Most men are. They really are.”

He says he’s usually a pretty good dance partner, but his klutziest moments just seem to come out when it came to busting out the dance moves around J.Lo.

“There was a time when I dipped her and I stepped on her hair and I pulled her back up and ugh,” Derek recounted. “The ladies [in the audience] are like, ‘How dare you!'”

And just when he thought it couldn’t get any worse, it happened again. “We were doing a Superbowl commercial and they were like, ‘freestyle,’ and I’m like, ‘Alright, cool.’ I went into a James Brown split and as I did that she was doing like a strut forward and fell off the stage and I was like, ‘No,'” he told Jimmy. “So, I don’t know what happens, but I can’t dance around her. So, I keep like a little bit away from her.”

While the dance pro might be feeling shy around the triple-threat star, he’s definitely not shy when it comes to goofing around with his long-time friend, Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev.

Derek just photobombed Nina on the red carpet. He jumped right in front of her while she was posing in her Dior dress at the 2018 Fragrance Foundation Awards yesterday (June 12) afternoon.

It was all in good fun, and the cams caught Nina smirking at her friend and his antics.

Derek also announced earlier this week that he’ll be going on his first-ever solo tour Derek Hough: Live! The Tour, which will kick off in Spring of 2019. The magnetic entertainer will be performing up a storm, telling ET, “It’s going to have a different vibe, a different energy, but still very very entertaining.”
