One of the most beloved products inspired by a galaxy far, far away is Hasbro’s Star Wars Monopoly. Avid fans snap up these babies, and when The Force Awakens was released in 2015, anticipation for the new release of the board game was at an all-time high.
But we were all in for a big disappointment.
See, the film’s main protagonist, kickass future-of-the-Jedi-and-almost-certainly-a-Skywalker-progeny Rey isn’t part of the game!
Luke Skywalker, Finn, Kylo Ren, and Darth Vader were all made pieces of the 2015 edition of Star Wars Monopoly – but Rey was glaringly absent.
A Rey game piece was eventually made, and that Monopoly set was sold in different countries – except the US. Hasbro’s reason? “Insufficient interest.”
