The original WB series was very much beloved by millions of loyal fans all over the world. And understandably, any attempt to reboot or touch the material in will always be met with a lot of excitement — and a lot of skepticism.
And that’s exactly what’s been happening ever since the CW’s ‘Charmed’ reboot was announced months back. And as the cast was revealed and the show’s trailer released, and with more and more information about the reimagining coming out, everyone involved has been receiving positive buzz. And also, more than their share of flack. Especially the three leads.
Taking over from Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Alyssa Milano – and then Rose McGowan in later seasons of the original run – are Melonie Diaz, Madeleine Mantock, and Sarah Jeffery. The actresses attended the Charmed panel on Thursday (July 19), and there, they opened up about how they want fans of the original series to give the new show a chance.
Madeleine voiced their admiration for the OG Charmed:
“We come in peace. I think the original was so wonderful, and they were really trailblazers and we could not be here without them.”
And co-star Sarah chimed in with a simple message for the fans:
“There are core similarities with the original show… I hope [fans] embrace it… We want to honor it properly while bringing a modern twist. Just — come with us, see if you like it.”
The Charmed reboot premieres this fall.
