Looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before finding out who’ll be taking home GRAMMY awards this year.

The 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony was initially scheduled to be held on January 31 in Los Angeles. However, due to COVID-19 concerns, the organizers have released a statement to announce that the ceremony will be postponed until March 14.

Harvey Mason Jr., Chair & Interim President/CEO of the Recording Academy; Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music, Live Events and Alternative Programming, CBS; and Ben Winston, GRAMMY Awards Executive Producer and Fulwell 73 Productions, said in a joint statement:

“After thoughtful conversations with health experts, our host and artists scheduled to appear, we are rescheduling the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards to be broadcast Sunday, March 14, 2021. The deteriorating COVID situation in Los Angeles, with hospital services being overwhelmed, ICUs having reached capacity, and new guidance from state and local governments have all led us to conclude that postponing our show was the right thing to do.

“Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those in our music community and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly on producing the show. We want to thank all of the talented artists, the staff, our vendors and especially this year’s nominees for their understanding, patience and willingness to work with us as we navigate these unprecedented times.”

The awards show will still be hosted by Trevor Noah. The GRAMMY had actually already planned on a limited show for 2021 – no audiences, only presenters and performers will be allowed on-site during the show. Even the nominees won’t be allowed onsite – and will most likely be accepting awards remotely.

The 2021 Grammy nominees were announced in November – led by Beyoncé with nine nominations, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch follow with six nods each, and receiving their first-ever GRAMMY nominations are Harry Styles, Megan Thee Stallion, BTS and Noah Cyrus.
