The 2025 BET Awards were nothing short of epic, bringing together the biggest names in music, entertainment, and culture for a night of celebration, recognition, and serious star power. Held live in Los Angeles and hosted by Kevin Hart, this year marked 25 years of honoring Black excellence—and the vibes were big from the start.

Leading the nominations was Kendrick Lamar, who topped the list with a staggering 10 nods. He was nominated across some of the night’s biggest categories, including Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, three Viewer’s Choice Awards, and three Best Collaboration spots.

Doechii was another major contender, racking up six nominations and continuing to prove she’s a force in the game. The “Denial Is a River” rapper was in fierce competition with fellow nominee GloRilla, particularly in categories like BET Her, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, and Best Collaboration. Ultimately, Doechii walked away with the win for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, a highlight moment early in the show.

Other big names getting their flowers included Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg, who were all honored with the Ultimate Icon Award. Mariah had a particularly special moment on stage, sharing during her acceptance speech, “This is my first BET Award.” A surprise to many, but a long overdue acknowledgment for one of the most legendary voices in music.

The show itself was packed with performances, tributes, and celebrations of not just music, but also the broader impact of Black artists in television, film, and sports. Kevin Hart brought his signature energy as host, keeping the crowd laughing and the tempo moving fast all night long.

All in all, this year’s BET Awards didn’t just hand out trophies—it reminded everyone watching why it’s called Culture’s Biggest Night.
