The 2025 Brit Awards lit up London’s O2 Arena, with Charli XCX, Sam Fender, JADE, and Ezra Collective emerging as the night’s biggest winners. Hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall for the fifth time, the event was packed with unforgettable performances, heartfelt speeches, and a few surprises.
Pioneering pop sensation Charli XCX stole the show, taking home four out of five wins, including the coveted Album of the Year for Brat and Artist of the Year. Her hit collaboration with Billie Eilish, “Guess,” earned her Song of the Year, and she also picked up Best Dance Act. Accepting her Best Dance Act award, Charli gave a playful nod to her production team, saying, “I wouldn’t be up here without these three straight white men.” She also made a passionate case for dance music, pushing back against its critics:
“I feel like dance music, electronic music, it gets a really bad rep because I feel like everybody’s like ‘Oh, well, it’s not really that deep is it?’ and I kind of feel like it is.
“I feel like this genre of music, for me, it’s euphoric. It allows me to escape. It allows me to feel on such a deep level. Maybe that’s not the way for everyone, but for me, it is.”
One of the night’s most competitive categories was International Artist of the Year, featuring powerhouse names like Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler, the Creator. In the end, Chappell Roan took home the award, also scoring International Song of the Year for her viral hit “Good Luck, Babe!”
Breakout band The Last Dinner Party won Best New Artist, while Mercury Prize-winning jazz group Ezra Collective secured their first-ever Brit Award for Best Group. Rising Star honours went to singer-songwriter Myles Smith, who had been announced as the recipient back in December. Sabrina Carpenter, who has seen her career skyrocket in recent years, was recognised with the Global Success award, presented by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.
The night wasn’t just about celebrations—there were moments of reflection too. A special tribute was held in honor of Liam Payne, the former One Direction star and solo singer who tragically passed away in October last year at the age of 31. The emotional segment paid homage to his contributions to music and the impact he had on fans around the world.
From record-breaking wins to heartfelt tributes, the 2025 Brit Awards proved to be a night to remember, shining a spotlight on the artists shaping the future of music.
