A$AP Rocky is in trouble with the law.
The 33-year-old rapper, real name Rakim Mayers, was arrested on Wednesday (April 20) at LAX Airport in Los Angeles. He was detained as he alighted a private plane from Barbados where he and his pregnant girlfriend Rihanna had spent the last few days.
A$AP was reportedly arrested “in connection to a November 2021 shooting.” He is said to be under investigation for a shooting incident that took place on Vista Del Mar and Selma. The victim survived, and according to a police report has claimed that A$AP and two others approached him and “shot at him three to four times and believed one of the bullets grazed his left hand.”
LAPD made the arrest with assistance at the airport from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations team.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division Detectives confirmed the arrest. In a press release, they said:
“On November 6, 2021, around 10:15 p.m., an argument between two acquaintances occurred in the area of Selma Avenue and Argyle Avenue, in the Hollywood Area. The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim. The victim sustained a minor injury from the incident and later sought his medical treatment. Following the shooting, the suspect and two additional males fled the area on foot.”
A$AP Rocky was apparently released less than three hours later after he posted a $550,000 bond. A court date has been set for August 17.
