Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley have ended their relationship.
The NFL MVP and Big Little Lies actress have called it quits just less than a year after they confirmed that they had gotten engaged.
A source confirmed the news of their break up, telling ET:
[Aaron and Shailene have] called it quits but remain friends.”
The source went on to shed some light on what led to their split, stating:
“They tried to make their relationship work but with busy careers in different industries it was hard to see one another.
The two have no animosity toward one another and plan to remain as friends.”
InTouch first broke the story of their separation, with multiple insiders revealing:
“While Shailene is supportive of Aaron’s career, he put football first and they were barely spending any time together.
She felt he neglected their relationship. Neither of them were happy.”
They dished that the 38-year-old Green Bay Packers quarterback is “an independent guy” and he “got cold feet” about their impending nuptials.
Another insider said that ultimately the two “couldn’t make it work. There were too many obstacles. They’re both adults and decided to part amicably.”
Aaron and Shailene kept their relationship private until they announced their engagement back in February 2021, when Aaron declared while accepting the award for Most Valuable Player at the 10th Annual NFL Honors:
“I got engaged and I played some of the best football in my career.”
