Turns out Adam Levine wasn’t among the guests to see Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani tie the knot in an intimate ceremony in Oklahoma on Saturday (July 3).
Adam and wife Behati Prinsloo were spotted around Miami, Florida on that day – the 33-year-old model was snapped enjoying a sunny day at the beach while the 42-year-old musician was photographed leaving the gym after a workout. According to Page Six, Adam is reportedly working on new music in Magic City, too.
Fans may find it surprising that Adam wasn’t at the ceremony. The “God’s Country” singer and the Maroon 5 frontman were coaches on The Voice together for 16 seasons. And Blake had previously mentioned something about getting his band to play at their wedding.
“I’ve decided that I’ve been doing this a long time now and I’ve got a lot of favors out there. He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play our wedding,” Blake joked during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers back in December. “Their music is so boring that it won’t distract from the festivities and the reception.”
But in March, Adam may have already hinted that he wouldn’t be performing.
“I would love to. First of all, I was just literally texting with them. I love them so much. Just so funny you mentioned them because I just texted them 10 minutes ago, just like, ‘I miss you guys. I love you guys.’ Yeah, they’re the best, dude,” he said during an interview on SiriusXM. “I would love to. I’d be honored. They won’t ask me though. They’ll probably get, like, Luke Bryan or somebody.”
More recently, Gwen also talked about how low-key their wedding was going to be.
“I definitely would love to have Adam sing at our wedding,” she said when she went on the show in April. “I feel like we’re not gonna have a wedding band. I feel like we’re just gonna go with, like, a playlist. We’re keeping it very simple.
“It’s gonna be like, my mom and my dad and just literally gonna be just family,” she said. “We are looking forward to that though. It’s gonna be fun. We’re gonna make it really fun.”
According to The Voice host Carson Daly, who also officiated the wedding, it was the groom himself who put on a musical performance at the nuptials.
“Guitar comes in, stool, next thing you know, he wrote her a song, and he sings her a song—while he’s crying—that he wrote specifically for her,” Carson shared on Tuesday (July 6) in an appearance on the Today Show. “‘Reach the Star,’ I think it was called. Not a dry eye in the house. That was a highlight.”
