Adele and Ed Sheeran are opting out of participating at a major royal event.

The two music superstars have reportedly declined to perform at the coronation of King Charles.

It’s being reported that when it came time to start planning King Charles’ Coronation on May  6 as well as the festive weekend the next day, May 7, the incumbent head of the Monarchy had two singers at the top of his must-have list: Adele and Ed Sheeran. An organizer of the event said:

“The Kind has suggested a number of people he would like to perform, and Adele and Ed were on that list.

He was very keen that they were part of the concert.”

However, it seems the King will be let down. Outlets are reporting that both have declined the invitation to perform at the event.

Ed had a plausible explanation. The singer-songwriter will be performing in Texas the day before the Coronation concert.

But Adele reportedly “turned down the invitation without explanation.” She does not have a scheduling for May 7. More so, she is not scheduled to perform in public after March 25.

An insider said of their refusal to perform:

“There is a team set up to get the talent signed up, so they approached the two of them, but got replies saying that they were unavailable, which was a massive disappointment.

They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British, but also known across the globe. It’s such a shame.”
