Adele ended her social media hiatus to celebrate an important milestone – her masterpiece of an album, 21, turned 10!

“Well I never! Happy 10 years old friend!” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s crazy how little I remember of what it was like and how I felt a decade ago. But Thank You from the bottom of my heart for letting us into your lives and letting me be a soundtrack to some of it x.”

21, which dropped January 24, 2011, was largely inspired by a then-recent breakup she went through at the time – who didn’t get the feels while listening to “Rolling In the Deep,” “Someone Like You,” “Set Fire to the Rain,” “Rumour Has It” and “Turning Tables”?

The album ended up becoming the best-selling album that year and went on to win the GRAMMY for Album Of The Year in 2012.

Adele dropped another hugely successful album in 2015 called 25, but hasn’t released anything since.

In March 2019, Adele was spotted hanging out at a recording studio in New York City, which sparked speculations that new music was on the way. In February of this year, when Adele performed onstage at her bestie Laura Dockrill’s wedding, she also had a sweet announcement for the guests: “Expect my album in September”!

Of course, the video, which was captured by a guest, went viral and the announcement hit the headlines.

Then the coronavirus pandemic happened.

Back in June, when Adele posted a photo of herself watching her 2016 Glastonbury performance, a fan commented, asking, “Teaser? Albums coming out today???!!!! Tell me now!!!!”

“Of course it’s not. Corona ain’t over. I’m quarantining. Wear a mask and be patient,” she responded.

In August, when an eager fan commented on one of her posts asking, “Adele where’s the album?”, she responded, “I honestly have no idea.”

When Adele hosted SNL “for the joy of it” in October of last year, she gave a few updates on what’s been going on with her.

“I know there’s a lot of chatter about me being the host. Like, ‘Why is she not the musical guest?’ and stuff like that. Well, there’s a couple of reasons: My album’s not finished, and I’m too scared to do both,” Adele shared during her opening monologue, adding, “I’d rather just put on wigs, have a glass of wine or six, and see what happens!”
