Alabama Barker is opening up about her health.
The 17-year-old daughter of blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and his ex, Shanna Moakler, has revealed her private battle with an autoimmune disease. She shared her health condition after being receiving body shaming comments online.
The comments came when Alabama was snapped out and about with a friend. Her followers noticed a change in her appearance, and many flatly called out her weight gain.
Alabama took issue with the body shaming, and responded on social media. She took to TikTok to clap back at the trolls and put them in their place.
She stated:
“Paparazzi will purposely take pictures of you with your mouth open, middle of a sentence and any ugly picture they can get of you just for views. I would love to see you guys getting random pictures of you taken of you when you’re leaving the grocery store, in the middle of a sentence, with your mouth wide open… and let’s see how beautiful you look.”
She then went on to reveal that she has a “thyroid problem and an autoimmune disease…
So, it would be very appreciated if you guys just keep your opinions to yourself. It’ll get you further in life.”
She shared how the autoimmune disease affects her weight, and said that she hoped any young girls watching the video she posted do not ever “think there’s something wrong with” gaining weight or having fluctuating weight. Alabama added:
“There is a certain point where if your health is getting affected by it, that you need to change it, but no… That’s not the case for me and I would appreciate it if you guys put yourself in my shoes.”
