Andra Day is setting the record straight about a recent rumor making the rounds, which she thinks is “hilarious.”
The rumor? She is romantically involved with Brad Pitt.
While it’s unclear how the rumors actually started, they’ve been swirling around not long after the Academy Awards in April, which she and Brad both attended – she was nominated for Best Actress for her role in The United States Vs Billie Holiday while Brad was one of the presenters.
But the thing is, Andra says, “We’ve never met.”
And, apparently that ~news~ was news to her as well. “I was like, ‘Oh, all right,’ My sister actually hit me up after; she was like, ‘You met Brad Pitt?’ I said, ‘I guess so. I guess we did,’ ” she told Entertainment Tonight at the 2021 BET Awards.
“We’re not dating. We don’t even know each other,” she continued, adding, “It is hilarious. It was thin air. Somebody was bored that day.”
But while they may not be romantically involved, she does have some pretty good things to say about Brad. “He’s great, though, super talented, wonderful,” she tells the outlet.
Andra took home the trophy for Best Actress at the 2021 BET Awards, and opened up to ET about her win: “It’s our peers and our people, and I think especially with a movie like United States Vs. Billie Holliday, Lee [Daniels] really made the movie for us. That’s who was on set and that’s who was in our hearts and in our minds when we made it. So for our peers to say, ‘We love this. This is special to us,’ it means everything.”
