There’s been a ton of speculation surrounding the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon – rumors of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield as well as some villains possibly reprising their roles in the franchise have continued to swirl.
Tom is the third actor to play the friendly neighborhood webslinger. Tobey starred in the first trilogy, which kicked off in 2002. Andrew later took over in the Amazing Spider-Man films of 2012 and 2014.
Back in February, Tom shut down rumors of Tobey and Andrew possibly being in the film, flat out denying it. “It would be amazing if they were [in the movie], because they haven’t told me that yet and I am Spider-Man,” he said at the time.
“I’ve read the script from beginning to the end, so it’ll be a miracle if they could’ve kept that from me,” he added. “But, at the moment, there is no cameo from the two boys.”
However, fans have noted that Tom is finally learning to keep the spoilers to himself – or that the production is getting better at keeping any spoilers from him – and many are taking his statement with a grain of salt.
But another Spidey might be able to give a clearer picture. In a recent interview, Andrew was asked about the rumors surrounding the possibility of reprising his role.
“I feel like I’m in a game of Werewolf and I’m just saying, ‘I’m not the werewolf, I am not the werewolf. I promise you guys, I’m not the werewolf!'” Andrew told Entertainment Tonight. “Listen, what people are talking about is a really cool idea. And again, I haven’t received a phone call, but, you know…”
He was also asked if he would ever be interested in revisiting his role as Peter Parker again.
“It’s weird,” he responded.
“It’s not something I’ve really thought about because I closed the book on it for myself and I haven’t had to think about it,” he explained. “So it’s not something that I’ve really considered. So, yeah, that’s my honest answer.”
The whole Spider-Man multiverse theory for Spider-Man: No Way Home started some months ago, after Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina have both seemingly confirmed they would be reprising their villain roles as Electron and Doc Ock, respectively, for the film.
