Anna Camp is standing up for her relationship after online critics questioned her age difference with girlfriend Jade Whipkey.
The 42-year-old actress made headlines after she brought Jade, 24, as her date to the premiere of her new film, Bride Hard. The couple posed together on the red carpet and Anna later posted a heartfelt shout-out on Instagram.
“To my girlfriend @jadewhipkey for being my date and for making me glow,” she wrote.
Soon after, a video clip of their appearance circulated online, with their ages clearly noted. Many viewers flooded the comments with criticism over the 18-year age gap — but Anna wasn’t having it.
She addressed the backlash directly in the comment section: “Thought I’d jump on here… and just say I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them. We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything ♥️ Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well 🙂 Especially this Pride month 🌈”
Although the red carpet marked their public debut, the couple has been together for a while. They soft-launched their relationship in an Instagram Story last month, and even earlier, in February, they appeared in a TikTok video discussing their worst dates, where Anna affectionately referred to Jade as “babe.”
In Bride Hard, Anna stars alongside Rebel Wilson, her longtime friend and Pitch Perfect co-star. The movie is now playing in theaters.
