On Friday (November 30), after much anticipation, cheeky teases, and an Aaron Samuels reveal, Ari finally dropped the music video for her surprise single “Thank U, Next”. And it was everything we dreamed of – and more!

Yes, the singer already revealed way before the video dropped that it was a homage to her favorite girl power rom coms: Bring It On, Legally Blonde, 13 Going On 30, Mean Girls. She even uploaded a few behind-the-scenes photos which gave us a glimpse of recreations of iconic scenes from the films. But seeing them all play out in the music video is a whole different level of awesome altogether!

Ariana in Torrance Shipman cheerleader mode? Doing the Elle Woods bend and snap to perfection? Crying her heart out as Jenna Rink? Hair flipping like Regina George? EPIC. Every character, every set was totally on point. Better than we could have ever imagined.

Know what else was on point? Every celebrity cameo in the video! Check it:

Kris Jenner – Not a regular mom, she’s a cool mom! Kris plays Regina’s pink-tracksuit-wearing mom in the Mean Girls Jingle Bell Rock segment.

Jennifer Coolidge – The fabulous Jennifer (Stifler’s mom!) reprises her character in Legally Blonde opposite Ari’s reimagining of Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods.

Troye Sivan – “I heard she’s a lesbian now and dating some girl named Aubrey.” So goes Troye in his tongue-in-cheek appearance in a Mean Girls scene.

Colleen Ballinger – Rockin’ her cheerleading outfit and baby bump in a Bring It On moment.

Elizabeth Gillies – Takes on Lindsay Lohan’s Mean Girls character. And yes, the resemblance is out of this world. Perfect! (Plus, Victorious reunion #1 – she co-starred with Ari on the show way back when!)

Matt Bennett – Plays cutie pie Cliff to Ari’s Torrance in that Bring It On toothbrush moment (Victorious reunion #2!)

Daniella Monet – Bringing it on in Victorious reunion #3!

Stefanie Drummond – Reprises her Mean Girls role by delivering this line: “Ariana broke off an engagement, so I found a guy to propose to me and I broke off an engagement.” Subtle shoutout to Pete Davidson?

Gabi DeMartino – The self-proclaimed Ariana superfan lands a cameo in the vid too!

Jonathan Bennett – Aaron Samuels is BACK. And we’re all swooning! Jonathan reprises his dreamy Mean Girls character. Thank YOU, Ari!

And as if those weren’t enough, Ari also writes secret messages to her famous exes in “Thank U, Next”! She wrote cute shoutouts to the exes she mentions in her song in the Burn Book portion of her video. Look:

Ricky Alvarez – His page has a photo of the two of them, with a heart around his name. Ari writes “great dancer,” “good times man” and “friends forever.”

Big Sean – Sean’s name is also enclosed in a heart, and along with that and a cute photo of him and Ari, she flirtatiously writes: “ so sweet, so cute” and in parentheses “could still get it.”

Pete Davidson – Ari seemingly confesses that she was the one who broke off their engagement: “Sorry I dipped” and “I love you always” can be seen on his page. Oh, and yes, she reiterates that whole “Big D**k Energy” thing too, writing “HUUUUUUUGE”.

Mac Miller didn’t make an appearance on her Burn Book. But Ari looks up as she sings the line about him, sweetly sending a tribute to her ex, who passed away in September. And in a recently-deleted tweet, she states that “M ain’t in the book he next to my bed.”

The Stars React…

Celebs are sending Ari a lot of love for her awesome video! Many stars took to social media to send positive comments Ari’s way following the debut of the vid:

Reese Witherspoon

Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods shared side by side screenshots of herself and Ariana decked out in full Elle mode: “Thank u, next #ElleWoodsForever #ThinkPink”

She also shared a clip of Ari doing the Bend and Snap, writing “I love this”

Kris Jenner

Sharing a clip of her appearance in the vid, Kris wrote: “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom.”

Mark Ruffalo

Jennifer Gardner’s leading man in 13 Going On 30 wrote: Having some Razzles (it’s a candy AND a gum) in your honor, @Ariana Grande!”

Jennifer Gardner

The star of 13 Going On 30 also wrote a sweet message for Ari: “Every now and then something comes along and just brightens your day. @arianagrande you’re adorable. Thank you, pretty girl. #thankunext.”

And this message from Jen made Ari adorably freak out! She replied:

“I’m crying. i watched this movie every night before bed growing up (and i still do sometimes, especially when i’m sad) i adore you! thank you for all the inspiration and joy you’ve brought to my life i’m screaming bye.

And by sometimes i literally mean everynight [sic] still.”

Lindsay Lohan has weighed in! The Mean Girls star wrote:

“@arianagrande I love #thankyounext video! All of the original Mean Girls are very flattered.”

Jennifer Coolidge posted a lovely message for Ariana:

“I love Ariana Grande because this is the essence of who she is. All these young girls hear this song and the message is, it’s a strong woman’s message that you don’t have to destroy yourself over men. You can date men, and when it goes wrong, you benefit from the hardship, but you move on and it’s just like okay. And you don’t have to hang out in it.

When I was growing up, there weren’t messages like this. There weren’t strong female songs like this where the message was so clear that a young girl, you don’t have to feel crappy about a relationship that’s gone wrong. This is such a good song and such a good message, and I wish there were more of these.”

Ariana just broke a major record with her video for “Thank U, Next”. Ari’s video is now officially the most viewed video within 24 hours of dropping!

The video also set the record for most-viewed video using YouTube’s Premier scheduling feature. 829,000 watched the video at the same time!

And it’s been confirmed by YouTube that the video now holds the record for biggest music video debut in YouTube history! Over 50 million views in its first 24 hours. WOW.

So fetch! Congratulations, Ari!
