Ariana Grande is grieving the loss of someone very dear to her—her beloved grandmother, Marjorie “Nonna” Grande.
The Grande family announced that Nonna passed away peacefully at the age of 99, surrounded by loved ones.
In a statement released to the public, the family wrote: “We are devastated to share that the beloved matriarch of our family has passed away. Marjorie (Nonna) Grande passed peacefully in her home and was surrounded by her family and loved ones for every moment of her last few weeks. We thank you for your love, support and for respecting our privacy as we grieve and celebrate her beautiful, extraordinary life. Love, The Grandes.”
Ariana’s mother, Joan Grande, reposted the statement on her Instagram Stories, and Ariana followed suit by sharing it on her own page.
Nonna wasn’t just a beloved figure in Ariana’s personal life—fans adored her too. She often made sweet cameos on Ariana’s social media and in interviews, and Ariana never shied away from talking about their close bond.
In November 2024, Ariana even flew home to Boca Raton, Florida, to take Nonna to see Wicked in theaters—a meaningful and memorable moment they shared, especially as Ariana stars as Glinda in the upcoming film adaptation.
