Aubrey Plaza has released her first public statement following the tragic death of her husband, Jeff Baena.
The Agatha All Along actress, 40, along with Baena’s family, addressed the heartbreaking loss in a statement shared with Just Jared on Monday, January 6.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time,” read the joint statement from Plaza and the Baena/Stern family.
Baena, a talented director and writer, passed away at the age of 47. Over the weekend, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner officially confirmed his cause of death as suicide.
Plaza and Baena, who had been together since 2011 and married in 2021, shared a deep personal and professional bond, collaborating on several projects over the years, including Life After Beth and Spin Me Round. Their relationship was famously private, with the couple keeping much of their personal life out of the public eye.
