Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced the name of their baby – meet Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor!

The royal couple made the announcement on Instagram, sharing a photo of Harry, Meghan and her mom, Doria Ragland, with Her Majesty and the Duke Of Edinburgh, a.k.a. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, who are meeting their eighth great-grandchild for the first time.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child:

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor

This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion,” the caption read.

So here’s the thing, Archie is really his whole first name – not Archibald. And it’s pretty unusual in the British royal fam, so it looks like Baby Archie is the first Archie ever in the royal family.

His second name, Harrison, appears to be a throwback to how people got their names in ancient times: Harry’s son = Harrison, get it?

And Mountbatten-Windsor is the surname used by all the children and descendants of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

Twitter had so many feels about the announcement – and many of them in connection to a certain red-headed Riverdale character of the same name.

Chrissy Teigen appeared to be delighted. “ARCHIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!”

Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote: “Best. Crossover. Ever. #Riverdale goes ROYAL. Congrats to the Meghan and Harry #archie! ❤️ 👶🏻 🍼 ❤️”

Riverdale’s official Twitter account captioned a GIF of their red-headed lead in the boxing ring, “Proud to be Archie. 👶👑 “

Archie Comics also joined it the fun, tweeting, “i’m baby”

While Netflix Canada dubbed the show’s protagonist: “Archie, Earl of Riverdale”

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka shared a photo of her and KJ Apa, writing, “me & the royal baby. congrats meghan & harry!”

Fans also took to social media to share their thoughts on the baby’s name.

“So……Prince Harry (w/ ginger hair) and Duchess Meghan (w/ freckles) named their son Archie. I just don’t understand how no one pointed out there was already a cartoon about this,” a fan surmised.

“Congrats to PRINCE HARRY and Meghan Markle on the birth of their son Archie, who we will all call Archiekins,” a Twitter user declared.

One fan is already naming a pet after the royal baby. “In celebration of our Patron, The Duchess of Sussex’s adorable baby boy, we’ve named one of our kittens Archie. He’s currently 7 weeks old and when he’s old enough will be looking for a Royal household of his own. 💜 #BabySussex”
