Ben Affleck would like to clear the air.
The actor is clarifying the recent comments he made about his marriage to Jennifer Garner. In an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show earlier this week, Ben opened up and gave rare comments about his relationships, past marriage, and alcoholism. The 49-year-old received backlash on social media about his statements on how his alcoholism affected his marriage.
Now, he is clearing up his statements. During Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, he spoke about his interview with Stern, saying he thought their two-hour conversation was “meaningful”:
“I was really happy with it.”
He stated that during the interview, he praised the time and life he shared with his ex-wife:
“I had gone on about how much we respected each other and how we cared about each other and cared about our kids and put them first. And went through our stuff.
And they said that I had blamed by ex-wife for my alcoholism and that I was trapped in this marriage and just made me out to be the worst, most insensitive, stupid, awful guy.”
Ben went on to say that he was fine with all the memes about him being “sad Batman” or that “Dunkin Donuts” meme, but not when it comes to his family:
“I have to draw a line and be clear.”
When Jimmy observed that he seemed “upset,” Ben said:
“It hurt my feelings. And even being the subject of that is just the cost of doing business a little bit as an actor.
But not with my kids. Don’t do that. It’s wrong. It hurts me. It hurts them. Stop that.”
Ben’s current girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, with whom he reconciled this year after breaking up in 2004, was there to support him at the studio during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
