Ben Stiller has opened up about the journey of his relationship with Christine Taylor, reflecting on their years-long separation and eventual reunion.
In an interview with The New York Times, the 59-year-old actor shared his thoughts on their 2017 split after nearly two decades of marriage and the road that led them back to one another.
“When we separated, it was just having space to see what our relationship was, what my life felt like when we weren’t in that relationship, how much I loved our family unit,” Ben explained, emphasizing that their connection as a family remained strong even during their time apart.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2000 and share two children, Ella and Quinlin, spent three to four years separated. Yet, Ben admitted he never saw the split as final.
“In my mind, I never didn’t want us to be together,” he revealed. “I don’t know where Christine was—you’d have to ask her—but COVID put us all together in the same house.”
The pandemic, which began in 2020, became a pivotal moment for their relationship. Living under one roof again allowed them to rediscover what they meant to each other.
“It was almost a year of living in the same house before we were actually together,” Ben recalled. “But I’m so grateful for it, and I think not that many people do come back together when they separate.”
He described the experience of reuniting as deeply moving, saying, “There’s nothing like that, when you come back. You have so much more appreciation for what you have, because we know we could not have it.”
Their story is a rare example of a couple navigating the challenges of marriage, separation, and reconciliation with grace and honesty. The journey wasn’t without its struggles, but their ability to reconnect highlights the importance of time, reflection, and mutual understanding.
Ben’s candidness about the ups and downs of his personal life offers a glimpse into the complexities of long-term relationships, showing that even in Hollywood, love can be about growth, patience, and rediscovery.
For Ben and Christine, coming back together wasn’t just about rekindling their marriage—it was about finding a deeper appreciation for each other and the family they’ve built. Their story is a hopeful reminder that sometimes, love can find its way back, even after years apart.
