Last week, Rolls Royce unveiled its blue Boat Tail convertible – a bespoke luxury model that’s believed to be the most expensive car in the world.
Per Page Six, the luxury vehicle comes with a number of OTT features – including a rear deck with a dinner set, parasol, rotating cocktail tables, and a double refrigerator, which can keep “the clients’ favorite vintages of Armand de Brignac” at “precisely six degrees.” It also features a his-and-hers two-sided timepieces from Bovet 1822 that can be worn or used as car clocks
Working with an undisclosed client, it took the company a total of four years from design to production. And, according to Rolls-Royce’s CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the Boat Tail is the company’s “most ambitious project yet.”
The lavish ride reportedly boasts a price tag of $28 Million – Rolls Royce hasn’t verified this though – and is believed to have been commissioned by music power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z.
“It’s thought this fantastic car has been commissioned by Beyoncé and Jay-Z with all its detailing matching their favorite things,” a source told The Telegraph.
The company only described the owner and his wife as a couple “with a sense of style and a love of travel, adventure, and entertaining who collect cars, watches, pens, and fine champagnes and like sailing.”
While they didn’t mention the owners’ identities, the description seems to be pretty spot-on for Bey and Jay. With their respective net worths – Jay-Z is estimated to be worth $1.4 Billion and Bey’s net wroth is estimated to be around $500 million – they can more than afford the car’s reportedly hefty price tag. Plus, there’s all the little details that are fueling speculations that the “03 Bonnie & Clyde” collaborators are behind the Boat Tail.
First off, it’s blue, which could be taken as a nod to their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy. Then, Armand de Brignac happens to be Jay-Z’s champagne – although LVMH bought a 50% stake in the company earlier this year. It’s also reportedly built for the Mediterranean backroads of the French Riviera – a place Bey and Jay frequent.
Rolls Royce had no comment on the speculations that Bey and Jay commissioned the luxe ride – the music stars’ reps are yet to respond to requests for comments as well.
