Blake Lively recently appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” opening up for the first time about her highs and lows of the year amid the highly-publicized lawsuit against her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. While she didn’t mention Baldoni by name, Lively candidly discussed the emotional toll of the past year.
“It’s no surprise, I’ve had a pretty intense year. They’re just my lifeline. No matter what day I am having, I have to be Disneyland every day for them. It’s the best, but it’s chaos,” Lively said, referring to her children.
When Meyers inquired further, noting that she might not be able to say much, Lively responded:
“What I can say, without going too into it, is that this year has been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life. I see so many women around afraid to speak, especially right now, afraid to share their experience. Fear is by design, it’s what keeps us silent. But I also acknowledge that many people don’t have the opportunity to speak, so I do feel fortunate that I’ve been able to.”
She added:
“It’s the women who have had the ability to use their voice that’s kept me strong and helped me in my belief and my fight for the world to be safer for women and girls. It’s a pretty simple thing.”
Lively’s comments come amid her ongoing legal battle with Baldoni, whom she has accused of sexual harassment and defamation. Baldoni has denied the allegations and filed a countersuit.
