Britney Spears is enjoying her time on “indefinite hiatus” – and that’s her prerogative.

Back in 2019, Brit announced that she was taking a break from performing on stage. At the time, her father, Jamie Spears, was dealing with serious health issues and Brit told fans she wanted to “put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.”

With many live performances slated to kick off this summer, fans have been wondering when the singer will make a return to the stage – or if she will at all.

“OK, so I hear that you guys have been writing in and I’m here to answer all of your questions,” Britney said in a video posted Thursday (June 17) on Instagram where she answered some questions from fans. “The question is: ‘Am I ready to take the stage again?’, ‘Am I going to take the stage again?’,  ‘Will I ever take the stage again?’”

“I have no idea,” she continued. “I’m having fun right now, I’m in a transition in my life and I’m enjoying myself so, that’s it.”

Britney has also previously assured fans that she was doing well.

“Yes, I’m totally fine. I’m extremely happy, I have a beautiful home, beautiful children,” she said in in another fan Q&A video posted in April. “I’m taking a break right now because I’m enjoying myself.”

Right now though, the popstar is probably gearing up to appear in court (remotely) to speak out about her conservatorship – the hearing is scheduled for June 23.

Britney and her dad are in the midst of a legal battle over the conservatorship of the her estate. Per Entertainment Tonight, in a document previously filed by her lawyers, Britney expressed that she doesn’t share her dad’s “vision of a future in which she resumes performing and leaves the management of her estate completely to him as she did in the past” – which could likely mean she won’t be taking the stage as long as he remains in control of her estate.

Legal expert Rachel Stockman explained to the outlet why Britney’s presence at court could be a game changer in her case.

“This is a really big deal because we’ve heard Britney speak out on social media, but this is the first time we’re going to hear her speaking out in court,” she said. “I think the goal in this status hearing, and the reason why she wants to speak out, is so the judge can hear from her and what she wants in this. So she has a voice.”
