Bryce Dallas Howard is candidly speaking out about the pay disparity she experienced on Jurassic World — and how Chris Pratt pushed for her to get paid more.
The 41-year-old actress said in a new interview with Insider that she made a lot less for the three Jurassic World movies than Chris, and revealed that when he found out about this, he fought for her to get a bigger pay day for the merchandise part of their deals.
In the interview, Bryce addressed a recent report that said there was a $2 million dollar pay gap between her and Chris, stating that this was inaccurate because the gap was actually much bigger:
“The repots were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less.
When I started negotiating for Jurassic, it was 2014, and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. And, unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, so your deals are set.”
Bryce then went on to say that when Chris found out about the pay gap, he pushed to make sure she got a bigger piece of the end cut when it came to the trilogy’s other revenue streams:
“What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me: ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m gonna do all the negotiating. We’re gonna be paid the same, and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce.”
She concluded by sweetly saying:
“I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I’ve been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie.”
