Cardi B is known for throwing some pretty over-the-top events – she just went all out for daughter Kulture Kiari’s third birthday. But she’s not planning to throw a big bash again anytime soon.
The “Wild Side” rapper, who’s expecting her second child with husband Offset, revealed that she’s not planning to have a baby shower during an appearance on BardiGang Radio on Stationhead, a social-audio platform.
“I’m not having a baby shower. That’s why I did Kulture’s birthday really, really big. I just get overwhelmed when I do these big birthdays and I just feel like the baby shower with Kulture’s birthday is just too close,” she explained, adding, “Just to see the same people over again, and it’s like, not doing it.”
She also shared more details about her second pregnancy – including how they found out just two weeks before her 2021 GRAMMY Awards performance with Meghan Thee Stallion and what their initial reaction was.
She had started to feel nauseous during rehearsals, and recognized other pregnancy symptoms she’d been feeling. Recalling when she told Offset, “‘I think I’m pregnant, Bro,'” she revealed that they both started laughing, both of them thinking, “Lord, we have so much to do!”
Cardi surprise-revealed her baby bump during her performance at the 2021 BET Awards last month, but hasn’t shared much about her second pregnancy.
While she also announced the baby news on social media just minutes before she hit the stage, Cardi says she had to take a break from the platform before that so she could get her “mind together.”
“People put me through a lot of s–t during Kulture’s pregnancy, a lot of lies were made about me… a lot of narratives. I was in Atlanta while Offset was touring and I didn’t have any family,” she shared. “This pregnancy, I didn’t want to remember any bad things, so I just took a break, got close to my family, had fun and enjoyed myself.”
“There is something so dear about this pregnancy, and I feel like I’m starting a new chapter and I’m happy about that,” she added.
The soon-to-be-mom-of-two also is confident about the strong bond Kulture and her forthcoming sibling will share.
Sharing a new maternity photoshoot, which also featured Kulture with her hand touching her mom’s belly, on Instagram, Cardi captioned it, “I just know these two will love each other soo much and argue soo much since they’re 3 years apart…just like me and Henny 😩. But one thing for sure is they’ll have each other’s back like no one else ever will 🙏🏽🙏🏽.”
