Chappell Roan is opening up about her love life—and she’s not holding back. The 27-year-old Grammy winner recently sat down with Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy, where she got candid about dating, relationships, and why she still champions the single life, even though she’s happily in love.
During the chat, Alex asked Chappell if she was currently single, to which she responded with a simple, “No.” Pressing for more details, Alex asked how long she’d been seeing someone. “Six months,” Chappell revealed, before confirming that it’s not just a casual fling. “No, it’s serious. I’m very in love. But I am pro-single. Everyone should be single, I’m serious,” she said.
Chappell went on to explain her philosophy: “Be single. Stop dating. Be single. Have a great time alone. Find out for yourself if you can a hundred percent be okay alone before you date. That’s what I found out. I had a great time when I was single, and I know that I’ll be okay. And now I have an awesome time that I’m with someone.”
She also dished on how they met—through a friend, though it wasn’t a setup. And in classic Chappell fashion, she made the first move. “I’m usually the one who makes, like in every circumstance, I make the first move,” she said.
Dating as a rising star, however, is a whole different ball game. Chappell admitted that she’s grateful to be with someone she was dating before her career blew up, saying, “I think it would actually be a nightmare [to date now]. I think I would be so single right now because you’re terrified of their intentions. I’m scared. I’m scared. I don’t trust anyone. I just think in my head, I’m like, any new person that I’m texting, I’m like, ‘I’m assuming they will screenshot this and send it to someone else.’”
In the interview, Chappell also reflected on her career, evolving sexuality, and the challenges of staying grounded as her fame grows. One thing’s for sure—whether single or taken, she’s doing things her way.
