Charli XCX, the 31-year-old music sensation known for hits like “Crash,” stirred up quite a buzz recently when she did some unfollowing on social media. Yep, she decided to unfollow her friend and collaborator Rina Sawayama, and fans were quick to spot it. Of course, where there’s a mystery, there’s speculation, so the rumor mill started churning.

Just to get you up to speed, Charli is currently dating George Daniel, a member of The 1975. Now, here’s where it gets juicy—back in June, during her set at Glastonbury, Rina Sawayama seemed to throw some shade at George’s bandmate, Matty Healy. She called out “a white man that watches Ghetto Gaggers and mocks Asian people on a podcast.” Yeah, it was a real eyebrow-raiser.

Considering all these connections, fans couldn’t help but wonder if Rina’s onstage call-out had caused some turbulence in her friendship with Charli. Maybe that’s why Charli hit that unfollow button on Instagram?

But wait, Charli decided to spill the beans and clear the air. She took to social media to set things straight, saying:

“Look – this all got a bit crazy – me and Rina spoke about things on the phone just now. My unfollowing (which happened a couple of weeks ago) was over a personal disagreement between friends which we’ve now spoken about <3.”

So, now some light has been shed on the matter Charli XCX has addressed the unfollowing situation, and she’s putting it down to a good old-fashioned personal disagreement between pals. It happens to the best of us. Now, as for Rina, well, she hasn’t chimed in on this social media saga just yet. Guess we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for that side of the story.
