Cheryl Burke is speaking out after news broke about her divorce from Matthew Lawrence.
The Dancing With The Stars pro took to social media one day after their divorce was reported. She released a short statement:
“I know I have always said that I’m an open book with you guys, I do strive to be, and in writing this I’ve realized there isn’t really an easy way to announce that my marriage is ending.
I hope you can understand that I will not be commenting any further at this time and am asking for understanding and privacy.
Thank you all for the kind words & support you’ve given me – love you all.”
In documents that were obtained by news outlets, Cheryl cited irreconcilable differences as reason for their divorce. She listed January 7 as their date of separation. The divorce petition was signed by Cheryl on February 14.
The two have a prenuptial agreement in place.
A source has dished to ET that the split was “a long time coming,” saying:
“They have a lot of history together, and while they hoped this time around would be different, it proved otherwise.
They have been living separate lives for a couple months now.”
A second source added:
“Cheryl and Matthew have been having issues for a while.”
Matthew has yet to comment publicly.
