Chris Evans has found himself at the center of a social media storm, with a resurfaced photo sparking widespread speculation and misinformation about his actions. The 42-year-old Captain America star took to his Instagram story to set the record straight regarding the viral image that has caused quite a stir online.

In the photo, Chris is depicted signing what appears to be a bomb, leading some netizens to claim that the actor was endorsing the use of weaponry in conflict zones like Gaza. However, Chris quickly debunked these misconceptions, offering crucial context and clarification about the true nature of the image.

Addressing the situation head-on, Chris explained that the photo was taken during a USO tour in 2016, where he joined a group of fellow actors, athletes, and musicians to express gratitude and support for service members. Contrary to the rumors circulating online, Chris emphasized that the object he was signing was not a bomb, missile, or any form of weaponry. Instead, he clarified that it was an inert object used exclusively for training or display purposes.

He said:

“There’s a lot of misinformation surrounding this picture. Some clarification: This image was taken during a USO tour in 2016. I went with a group of actors, athletes and musicians to show appreciation for our service members. The object I was asked to sign is not a bomb, or a missile, or a weapon of any kind. It’s an inert object used for training or display purposes only,” he wrote.

Seeking to dispel any lingering doubts, Chris shared additional information in a follow-up post, including a screenshot of a fact-check confirming the nature of the object. According to the fact-check, Chris was signing what is known as an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), a device designed to simulate an artillery shell for training and demonstration purposes only.

By providing this vital context, Chris aimed to quash the spread of misinformation surrounding the photo and set the record straight about his intentions during the USO tour. His swift and transparent response underscored his commitment to honesty and integrity, ensuring that his actions were not misinterpreted or misconstrued by the public.
