The God of Thunder himself crashed a live news report – and helped deliver the weather forecast!
Thor star Chris Hemsworth, who’s been staying in Australia throughout the coronavirus pandemic, shocked the anchors of Australia’s The Today Show – and probably audiences, too – over the weekend when he appeared during meteorologist Lauren Philipps’ outdoor weather report in Scone, New South Wales.
“I’m in the horse capital of Australia, but I was yet to find a horse, so I thought I should open it up to one of the horse studs,” Lauren intro’d her segment.
Chris then walks into the frame and took the microphone from Lauren to ask what they were doing before helping her out with the day’s weather report.
“You’ve made my job look very easy there, you might have to take over!” Lauren jokingly told Chris, but he gave her props right back and told her that she was doing fine.
Apparently, Chris was in Scone, which is a ways off from his home in Byron Bay, with some friends doing some conservation work.
“I’ve been here [in Australia] all year, and it’s been fantastic,” he said. “Been with the family and lying low and keeping an eye on the horses back there.”
Lauren later revealed that the people in the studio had no clue that he was going to be joining them.
“I did tell the guys back in the studio that we were having an interview with someone back here. They thought it was going to be a horse,” she shared. “So I reckon I pulled this one off and I’ve done a little better than them thinking I was going to find a rogue horse to interview.”
“I’m a little like a rogue horse,” Chris quipped. “I’ll escape here and you’ll have to lasso me.”
Today’s co-anchor, Richard Wilkins, thanked Chris and teased, “tell him he’s booked and we’ll see him same time tomorrow.”
“I’m only available for the next 35 seconds,” Chris bantered, adding, “You’re going to have to keep [Lauren].”
When the interview ended, show co-anchor Rebecca Madden still seemed to be totally in shock, even asking, “Did that just happen?”
“[Chris] just read the weather on Weekend Today,” she added.
Nothing like a nice little surprise to perk up a weekend.
