Chris Hemsworth is sharing a big health update. The Marvel star has learned that he is predisposed to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

The 39-year-old actor learned on his new NatGeo program, Limitless, that he is eight to ten times more likely to battle the progressive disease. This is because his DNA has two copies of the gene APOE4.

He has now decided to take some time off from acting after the revelation.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, he said:

“It’s not like I’ve been handed my resignation.

It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off, and since we finished the show, I’ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do.”

Chris shared what he is planning to do:

“Now, when I finish tour this week, I’m going home, and I’m going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.”
