Chrissy Teigen is speaking candidly about a deeply personal topic—her evolving relationship with alcohol.

The 39-year-old model and cookbook author, who had previously celebrated six months of sobriety back in 2022, has revealed that she’s recently decided to start drinking again. In a vulnerable and honest Instagram post, she shared the emotional ups and downs behind her decision.

“To let a lot of you down, oh I feel it deeply,” Chrissy wrote. “I was so proud every time one of you told me on the street that holly and I made you want to rethink drinking, reframe drinking. I still am.”

Chrissy’s post reflects a raw look into someone trying to figure things out in real time. “The truth is, I don’t know what I’m doing. I one hundred percent know I like me better sober. I one hundred percent know I get more done, I absolutely feel better in my body without it.”

Though she’s started drinking again, Chrissy made it clear that she’s very aware of the potential dangers and is trying to stay mindful. “My relationship with the whole process of sobriety (and messing up) has changed for the better. I am deeply aware of where this can go if I let it. I guess my plan right now is to continue to be mindful with it. I still know my relationship with alcohol just isn’t normal and never will be.”

The post quickly drew support from fans and loved ones—including her husband, John Legend, who commented, “Always proud of you.”

Chrissy has long been known for her openness with fans on social media, sharing everything from her parenting journey to grief and personal growth. Her willingness to share her sober journey—and now, her return to drinking—continues that tradition of transparency.

This isn’t the first time she’s spoken publicly about her struggles with alcohol. Back in 2021, she revealed she had decided to get sober after realizing that drinking was negatively affecting her mental and physical health.

By opening up about the non-linear nature of recovery, Chrissy is showing that there’s no one-size-fits-all answer—and that it’s okay not to have everything figured out.
