The notoriously private Cole Sprouse is out here actually discussing his break up with Lili Reinhart.
Earlier this year, reports came out that the Riverdale co-stars and real-life couple have called it quits on their on-again-off-again relationship.
Neither of them have officially confirmed it – until now.
Cole went on Instagram to share a photo of his ex-girlfriend – along with deets about their break up. He also had the sweetest things to say about her.
“Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March,” he revealed, adding, “What an incredible experience I had, I’ll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love. I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward.”
However, this seems to be the ONLY time Cole will ever address their breakup. “All I’ll say about it, anything else you hear doesn’t matter,” he went on.
Still, he continued to show his support, plugging her upcoming movie, Chemical Hearts!
“Also her movie comes out soon! I’m sure she’s just as incredible in it as everything else she does,” he wrote, thanking his followers.
His post comes after Lili set the record straight about some comments she made in a recent interview.
In case you missed it, Lili sparked speculation among fans that she was alluding to what happened between her and Cole.
Talking to Refinery29, the 23-year-old actress discussed moving forward from what felt like a “black tunnel [that] was never going to end…I couldn’t see the light. I was like, I feel like I’m dying.”
“It was f–king rough, and there’s no other way through it than just through it,” she told the outlet. “I’ve seen a lot of people when it comes to heartache and grief and breakups, and they try to get that void filled with sex, with coke, with food, with drinking, [but] the void is still there. I took the road less traveled and just dealt with my s–t. I had to face my own pain head-on.”
“The last couple of months have probably [been] the most emotional few months of my entire life,” she later said, adding, “and my therapist [told] me, ‘Your body’s going through withdrawal from love/ ‘You’re used to having this exchange of happy chemicals between you and the person that you’re with.’ In moments of my life, I have dropped every ounce of pride that I had just to be like, Love me. Please take the pain away for a day, a second, an hour, just so I can feel that fix again.”
She also talked about her upcoming collection of poems, Swimming Lessons, which is slated to be released next month.
“I felt the need to write that because I was scared — and I am scared — that people are going to try and create their own idea of what my love life looked or looks like,” she revealed. “I’m not saying, My boyfriend f–ked another woman. I’m saying, I felt betrayed.”
While many were led to believe she was talking about her split from Cole, turns out, she actually wasn’t – she was opening up about her depression over the last few months. Lili went on Twitter on Tuesday (August 18) to set the record straight.
“Quotes taken from my most recent interview are not about a ‘breakup.’ They are about the depression I’ve felt over these last few months. Tired of people taking my words out of context and piecing together their own story for clickbait,” she wrote on Twitter.
“I would never speak so candidly about something as personal as a breakup. That’s incredibly private. I was addressing my depression,” Lili added in another tweet.
