Colton Haynes is opening up about his career decisions.

In his new memoir titled Miss Memory Lane, the 33-year-old actor got very honest about the real reasons he chose to exit both ‘Teen Wolf’ and ‘Arrow,’ two shows where his characters played an integral part and were fan favorites.

He shared that there was more that was going on behind the scenes than what was being reported at the time.

On his exit from ‘Teen Wolf’ where he starred as Jackson Whittemore for the first two seasons, Colton stated:

“The real truth was that they didn’t want to pay me the same amount as everyone else.”

He said that the amount he was requesting to be paid was not even “a lot to begin with by Hollywood standards.” He also claimed that his “working quote” or “the fee I would be paid to appear on anyone else’s show” was actually higher than that of any other Teen Wolf cast member’s working quote at the time. He went on to add:

“It didn’t help that I was represented by a team of people who made the Teen Wolf production’s life a living hell. So in order to get back at my team, the production refused to pay me the standard salary.”

After leaving Teen Wolf, Colton then joined the cast of Arrow in 2013. He played Roy Harper aka Arsenal all throughout the CW show’s eight seasons. But he was only a main character for seasons two, three, and seven, and had a recurring role in seasons one and eight. He appeared in guest appearances in seasons four and six.

Before production began on season eight, Colton made the announcement that he would only be appearing in a recurring role.

He said of his decision to exit Arrow:

“I had walked away from my full-time job on Arrow at the beginning of the year, supposedly because my contract had ended, but it was really because I was too depressed and I couldn’t stand working with one of my cast mates.”

He did not name the cast mate he was referring to.
