David and Victoria Beckham are no strangers to the spotlight, but one topic that has remained largely unspoken is the infamous Rebecca Loos affair allegations that rocked their marriage back in 2004. Now, in their Netflix docu-series “Beckham,” the celebrity power couple has decided to break their silence and delve into that dark chapter.

Let’s rewind to 2004 when a woman named Rebecca Loos made headlines by claiming that she had an affair with David Beckham, who was already married to Victoria at the time. Rebecca, who worked as David’s personal assistant, didn’t mince words, describing him as an “amazing lover.” At that point, David and Victoria had already been married for five years.

According to Rebecca, their affair began during a night out in Madrid, where David was playing for Real Madrid. She alleged that they had been intimate on four separate occasions, and their undeniable chemistry was apparently noticed by others around them.

In response to these explosive allegations, David swiftly issued a denial, stating:

“During the past few months, I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life. The simple truth is that I am very happily married. I have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change these facts.”

Victoria, on the other hand, remained silent about the allegations until 2007 when she candidly acknowledged:

“I’m not going to lie. It was a really tough time. No one said marriage was going to be easy. Yes, there have been bumps along the road. But the fact is we’ve come out of everything we’ve been through stronger and happier.”

Now, back to the present day, David and Victoria are finally addressing the allegations in their Netflix series, “Beckham.” David reflects on the difficult period, sharing:

“Erm… there were some horrible stories that were difficult to, erm, deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage.”

Victoria chimes in, admitting:

“It was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us. Here’s the thing — we were against each other, if I’m being completely honest.”

David opens up further about that challenging time in their marriage, saying:

“I don’t know how we got through it, in all honesty. Victoria is everything to me, to see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters, and at that time we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family. And what we had was worth fighting for.”

In response to the allegations, Victoria moved with their two children to Madrid, where David was playing at the time. She admitted to feeling resentful of David during that period:

“As soon as I could get the kids in school, we then move full-time. Did I resent David? If I am being totally honest, yes, I did. It was probably, if I’m being honest, the most unhappy I have ever been in my life. It wasn’t that I felt unheard because I chose to internalize a lot of it because I was always mindful of a focus that he needed.”

David reveals the toll it took on him:

“Every time that we woke up, we felt, you know, there was something else and…we both felt at the time that we were not losing each other but drowning. But ultimately, it’s our private life. There were some days I thought, ‘How am I going to go to work? How am I going to go on that training pitch and look as if nothing is wrong?’ I felt physically sick every day when I opened my eyes. How am I going to do this?”

Despite the turbulence, their love endured, and they are now approaching their 25th wedding anniversary. It’s a testament to their resilience and commitment to each other.
