Demi Lovato feels “so lucky” to be able to celebrate 28.
The “Anyone” singer turned 28 on Thursday (August 20), and went on Instagram to share a moment of gratitude.
“I’m so lucky to be here today and to have made it to my 28th birthday,” she wrote in the caption, referencing her near-fatal overdose in 2018.
It appears turning a year older has also made Demi want to take action – she launched a campaign to help bring justice to Breonna Taylor, who was shot and killed in her home in Louisville, Kentucky on March 13.
“Today is my 28th birthday… a birthday that Breonna Taylor will never have the opportunity to experience,” Lovato wrote before explaining her initiative. “I’ve launched a Propeller campaign in Breonna’s honor that includes pre-written letters to the Louisville mayor and chief of police, petition links, and donation links. No matter how big or small you think your impact may be, if we all stand together we can help bring justice for Breonna Taylor.”
Celebs and regular folks alike have continued to call for justice for Breonna’s death. According to an ABC News report, only one of the three officers involved in the fatal shooting has been fired while the two others have been reassigned to administrative duties pending the investigation.
Also celebrating Demi’s special day is the actress and singer’s fiancé Max Ehrich.
Max went on Instagram to share several candid shots of their uber sweet moments together.
“Words fall short baby. You light up this world and I am the luckiest man alive to call you my fiancé,” he captioned the post. “I keep falling more in love with you and your pure heart & soul every moment.”
“Can’t wait to make endless memories with u and forever cherish you with all my heart,” he added. “Happy 28th, my angel @ddlovato 💘🎂.”

Demi and Max recently took the next step in their relationship – and she shared the happy news on social media on Wednesday (July 22), sharing loved up photos from Max’s proposal AND a close up of her new bling!
“When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his ‘little partner’ – something that might’ve sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent. To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner,” Demi began.
“@maxehrich – I knew I loved you the moment I met you,” she continued. “It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.”
“I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all,” she went on. “You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself.”
“I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!!” she shared.
