Demi Lovato’s got new music out!
The 29-year-old entertainer released her eighth studio album, Holy Fvck, at midnight on Friday (August 19).
Along with the album drop, Demi shared a message about how her ew album represents who she is today:
“HOLY FVCK gave me the freedom to express myself in ways I didn’t know were possible and find joy I’d been missing when making music. It’s cathartic and grounded, yet exhilarating and a hell of a good time.
I don’t know where I’ll be in life in a year, or in five or 10 years — but what I do know is that this record is exactly where I am now, and I am damn proud of it. I hope everyone who listens is too.”
In a new interview, Demi addressed the buzz surrounding a track featured on Holy Fvck titled “29.” Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she touched on the speculations that this song was about her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama. Here’s what she said:
“When I turned 29, I remember I was on vacation and I just realized I’m 29 now, and it put things into perspective. It put everything into perspective.
And I’m very careful with the way that I answer these questions because I feel like the song says it all.
I don’t have to say too much, to be honest, but turning 29 was a huge eye opener for me. And then, going into treatment and having realizations led to my transformation, my release of the emotion that was put into this song. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a ton of anxiety about putting out this song. I just said, ‘I have to go for this. I have to own my truth.’ Yeah. And I do still walk that line very finely. I’ve learned that sometimes saying less is more. And it’s taken me to 30 years old to maybe learn that, but here I am approaching the way that I express myself differently in front of the media because it’s okay to have boundaries.”
