Demi Lovato is gearing up for a new era – and it’s coming really really soon.
The 28-year-old songstress went on Instagram Monday (March 15) night to share the surreal artwork of the album cover with fans, revealing the title and the release date – Dancing With The Devil…The Art Of Starting Over, which is set to drop on April 2.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating her four-part documentary coming out on YouTube on March 23 titled, Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil. The doc follows her journey of healing and recovery following her near-fatal drug overdose in 2018.
The album, which is inspired by the same journey, was originally just going to be called The Art of Starting Over, but later decided to turn it into a companion for her new documentary Dancing With the Devil.
During a chat on the Clubhouse app, Demi shared a few little-known details about her upcoming album – including how the title evolved during the process.
“If you listen to it track by track, if you follow the track listing, it’s kind of actually like the non-official soundtrack to the documentary. Because it really does follow my life over the past couple of years,” Demi said. “When we went through the track listing and kind of mapped out how it kind of coincided with my life’s story, it made sense to add the more emotional stuff in the beginning and then transition into ‘The Art of Starting Over.’”
The album will have 19 tracks and three bonus songs; three of the songs are going to be collabs – and fans are all up in a tizzy about one of them is with Ariana Grande.
It all started earlier this month when Ari shared a clip of some audio tracks with her vocals on Instagram Story, writing, “backgrounds on a song for a friend :)”
It’s not uncommon for Ari to share snippets from an upcoming single, BUT when Demi reposted the video, and added “👀👀👀,” and fan speculations of a “Dariana” collab went into hyperdrive.
So far, neither of them have addressed the speculations. However, according to Entertainment Tonight, the album will include the song “Anyone,” which Demi performed live at the 2020 GRAMMY Awards last year.
