Dev Patel was recently involved in a very scary situation.
On Monday night (August 1) while in Australia, the 32-year-old Green Knight star reportedly tried to intervene in an argument that escalated to a stabbing.
A report from Page Six said that a man and a woman were fighting while out in the street. They moved their argument to a gas station nearby. There, multiple individuals attempted to deescalate the situation. One of those individuals was Dev.
7News reported that the woman, 32, ended up stabbing the man, 34. The man was transported to a hospital and in expected to recover.
Dev’s reps said in a statement to the outlet:
“Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and deescalate the situation and break up the fight. The group was thankfully successful in doing so, and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived.”
His reps went on to say that there were “no heroes” in the incident, stating:
“The specific incident highlights a larger systemic issue of marginalized members of society not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”
They also said that Dev is hoping “the same level of media attention this story is receiving” will encourage lawmakers to be “compassionate in determining long-term solutions to help not only the individuals who ere involved but the community at large.”
The woman was arrested by authorities and charged with aggravated assault.
