Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is reportedly in trouble with DC and The WB?
The Black Adam star is said to be in hot water because of falsifying profitability for his film. He allegedly leaked inaccurate financial information to the press.
DC’s most recent theatrical release was not a smash hit at the box office. It must be noted though that it was not a complete flop, unlike fellow 2022 comic book film Morbius. Outlets have been left wondering whether Black Adam will indeed turn a profit for Warner Bros.
Earlier this month, a report dropped stating that the movie would lose the studio between $50 to $100 million. This in turn heightened rumblings of Black Adam being yet another DC failure.
In response to this report, another report was released to Deadline. This report was supported by Dwayne in the efforts to assure fans that the movie will be profitable after all.
New information has been released about the conflicting Black Adam reports, with Matt Belloni of Puck revealing in a newsletter that Dwayne’s team apparently leaked the story to Deadline, according to “several Warners executives.”
This second report, which Matt called “filled with false assumptions,” indicated that Black Adam will make a profit of about $52 to $72 million. Taken into account were all revenue factors such as VOD, Blu-Ray, and more.
Now, there is talk that Dwayne may not return to James Gunn’s DCU after the reports of forged documents to make Black Adam a success has left WB execs fuming.
If Dwayne’s claims on Black Adam are to be considered hard facts, the movie has been in development for 15 years. James Gunn has already promised that Henry Cavill’s Superman – who made a controversial cameo in the film – holds a central position within the DC Universe Bible. Alas, no such promise has been made regarding Black Adam’s fate.
