Diplo and Quenlin Blackwell are clearing the air about their friendship and living arrangement.
Last week, the 19-year-old TikTok star revealed something that surprised a lot of fans: “I live with Diplo right now, and he supports my endeavors.”
She also interviewed him in another TikTok video, asking, “Why do I live with you?”
“I have no other friends,” he replies, forlorn. “It’s the truth.”
Fans soon inundated her with questions about the hows and whys of their living arrangement, which prompted Quenlin to create her spur of the moment TikTok series: Living With Diplo, where she shares fun details of life with the DJ – including the profile pic he gave her avatar on their Peloton bike and the texts they exchanged when their home was allegedly being robbed, and a lengthy conversation they had about another celebrity.
“Since y’all care so much about me living with Diplo, I just started a series called living with Diplo’,” she said.
However, fans continued to express their concerns, with some pointing out the 22-year age gap between them.
On Sunday (October 25) night, Quenlin went on Twitter to address the sitch.
“I’m an adult. I’m not being groomed. Platonic relationships exist,” Quenlin began in the statement she posted on the platform. “I’ve been living here over a year…I’d rather break both of my legs and before forced to walk than pursue Diplo romantically and he’d rather choke. He’s barley [sic] in LA bc he’s so busy.”
“Diplo has given me the opportunity and security to create. Diplo and his team are my mentors in LA and they are my safety net,” she continued. “Diplo and his team have saved me numerous times from the weirdos in La. My parents trust him. I trust him. Y’all are making me feel icky. Diplo is my LA dad..nothing more.”
Diplo also went on social media to shed more light on the whole thing.
“OK so I rent one of my properties to @quenblackwell. And yes I use the studio that is in that building. Her social media is sarcastic and chaotic and I can see you can get a twisted idea but there is nothing but a friendship between us,” he tweeted.
“As a landlord I don’t really consider age or race as a qualification. U just gotta pay security deposit. And don’t poke holes in the walls or ruin my carpet,” he added.
And when someone asked what he had in common with a 19-year-old, he replied: “We made music together.”
Quenlin, also went on Twitter Monday to post a video dancing in front of media headlines about her housing situation, soundtracked by the Cardi B’s track “Press.”
And she also posted a screenshot of a video call with her boyfriend, captioned, “i just asked parker if we could have a child and he said yes if he can fit a crib in his room and then wouldn’t stop smiling….SIR I WAS JOKING.”
