Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, the beloved stars from two of the most iconic teen dramas of the 2000s, The O.C. and Gossip Girl, are reflecting on their time on those shows, but with a surprising twist. In a recent interview with InStyle, Adam opened up about whether he and his wife ever sit down to watch the shows that made them household names.

For fans of both shows, the idea of Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf lounging on the couch, reliving their iconic TV moments together, might sound like a dream come true. However, Adam admits that they don’t actually rewatch their old episodes. “We don’t watch it,” he revealed. “Who knows, when our kids are older, if they want to, then maybe we’ll take that trip with them.”

While the couple isn’t glued to reruns of The O.C. or Gossip Girl during their downtime, they do reminisce about their experiences on set. Adam explained that, while they don’t often discuss their characters, they do talk about their time working on the shows. “We certainly talk about it. Not the characters—I mean, occasionally—but more about the experiences,” Adam shared.

Both Adam and Leighton were major stars of the early 2000s, with The O.C. and Gossip Girl having a significant impact on pop culture. Adam played the quirky and lovable Seth Cohen on The O.C., a character that became a symbol for the offbeat, witty, indie-music-loving teenager. Meanwhile, Leighton stole the spotlight as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, the Upper East Side’s queen bee with impeccable style and a knack for manipulation.

Given their similar paths, it’s no surprise that Adam says the two share a unique bond, built on the shared experience of starring in such massive cultural phenomena. “We do have a lot in common. In some ways, almost nobody could understand it more than her and vice versa. And a lot of people involved were the same people, so there’s just a lot of overlap,” he explained. It’s clear that their time in the spotlight is something they both relate to on a deeper level, even if they aren’t sitting down to binge-watch old episodes together.

Adam and Leighton tied the knot in 2014, and since then, they’ve mostly kept their personal lives under the radar. The couple shares two children, a daughter named Arlo, who is now nine, and a four-year-old son, whose name has not yet been publicly revealed. The family enjoys a relatively private life, despite both parents’ fame, and it seems they’re focused on parenting and life beyond their TV stardom.

While The O.C. and Gossip Girl may have cemented their places in pop culture history, Adam and Leighton appear content with leaving those roles in the past—for now, at least. But who knows? Maybe one day, as Adam hinted, their kids might want to watch those shows, and that could be the moment they revisit the series that shaped their early careers. Until then, the couple seems happy to reminisce about their experiences, not the characters they played.
