Drake has just made Spotify history — and he’s calling for monetary rewards for artists who reach milestones on the platform.
The 36-year-old “Hotline Bling” artist became the first ever artist to surpass 75 billion streams on Spotify. As he celebrated this massive accomplishment, the rapper suggested that Spotify reward artists for their achievements.
Taking to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (February 1), Drake shared a screenshot of his achievement, and wrote:
“We should get bonuses like athletes to motivate the future artists to be consistent and competitive.”
He went on to say:
“So feel free to send me a Lebron sized [check]. I have enough dinner plates @spotify”
Lebron James currently earns a $45 million paycheck from the Los Angeles Lakers.
