Dua Lipa is shutting down all the rumors that she will be performing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The “Levitating” singer set the record straight on social media, stating that she is not going to perform. She also called on the country to fulfill all the human rights pledges it had voted to make after it was selected to host the international soccer competition. The 2022 World Cup kicks off on November 20.
She wrote on her Instagram Story:
“There is currently a lot of speculation that I will be performing at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar.
I will not be performing and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiations to perform.”
She then went in for the kicker:
“I will be cheering England on from afar and I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup.”
BTS’ Jung Kook is set to sing at the opening ceremony, and will also be featured in the World Cup soundtrack.
