Dua Lipa is reportedly shaken after a couple of fans seemingly rushed her outside a building in Mexico.
Over the weekend, Dua shared some photos on the set of her new Yves Saint Laurent fragrance campaign on Twitter.
Soon after, a video went viral on Twitter where two fans could be seen running towards the Grammy-winning artist, slipping past her security and startling her as she exited a building.
Thankfully, she was surrounded by her team, and security was able to push them back quickly.
It’s understandable that fans can get overly excited at seeing Dua in person – an eyewitness told E! News that some people had been waiting nine hours outside the building. However, invading someone’s personal space like that is so not cool.
A source even told The Sun that Dua “looked really uncomfortable” after the incident.
“News that she was in the area spread and obviously people were keen to catch sight of Dua,” a source tells The Sun. “But it turned nasty when two fans rushed up to her. They really ran at her and it looked scary.”
“Dua looked really uncomfortable. Thankfully security was there to drag the people away because who knows what could have happened,” the source continued.
So far, Dua hasn’t publicly addressed the scary encounter. Her reps are yet to respond to comments.
More recently, however, Elton John has made it so that fans will be able to catch Dua perform.
Elton John AIDS Foundation announced new deets for their annual Academy Awards viewing party, which will be going virtual for the first time.
The pre-party event, which will take place an hour before the Oscars telecast, will be hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris and feature a special “stripped back” performance courtesy of Dua Lipa.
“This year, we are bringing our Oscar Party into people’s homes for the first time virtually for an unforgettable evening with David [Furnish], myself, our dear friend Neil Patrick Harris and the incredible Dua Lipa plus many fabulous surprise names,” Elton said in a statement. “Now more than ever, we need to ensure that one pandemic does not override another, and we cannot forget the 38 million people living with HIV globally who need our care, love and support so we hope everyone joins us for this special one of a kind Oscar Pre-Party.”
Dua also expressed her excitement for the party in a statement.
“It’s such an honour to be a part of one of the most iconic Oscar parties and I’m really proud to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation to help tackle the stigma that exists around HIV as we need to build a kinder and more accepting world together,” she said. “And to share the stage with Elton John will be a dream come true!”
