Ellie Goulding is giving fans a glimpse into her journey to becoming a mom.
On Thursday (June 3), the “Love Me Like You Do” singer went on Instagram to share a video that featured clips taken throughout her pregnancy, as well as a first glimpse of her baby boy Arthur, whom whom she and hubby Caspar Jopling welcomed in May.
“Dropped a BIG unexpected side project this year 🔥🔥🔥🔥 think it might be the greatest yet- shoutout to Mother Nature for the collab of all collabs 💙 Music by @tshamusic,” Ellie wrote in the caption.
From ultrasound appointments to showing off her growing baby bump while working out or going for hikes in the woods, Ellie takes fans through her entire pregnancy in a few minutes, before showing a clip of her pushing Arthur in a stroller. The video ends with the new mom cuddling with her son in bed.
In February, the “Love Me Like You Do” singer confirmed she and hubby Caspar Jopling were expecting their first child – she was already 30 weeks pregnant at the time.
She opened up about finding out she was pregnant in an interview with Vogue, saying, “We did the one show [in August 2020]. I was pregnant and had no idea.”
“That was [around] the time when Caspar and I went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that’s basically when we found out,” she shared. “It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality. Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human. I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.”
“I actually went from being smug about how healthy my salads were and my breakfasts and eating nuts and seeds, and then all I wanted was McDonalds,” she continued. “And I was kind of terrified, I suddenly wanted all of the bad things! Whatever this baby did when it took over my body was like, Hell no—I do not want broccoli, spinach, collards! I just wanted sugar and carbs.”
“I’m excited to be a mother—but also I want to make sure that I continue to work,” she added. “I can’t wait to go back on tour. I’ve been in the studio most days, [and] I’m excited for the challenge. It will be a totally new experience.”
Caspar announced the birth of their child on May 2, writing, “Mum and baby both healthy and happy. Extremely grateful,” Caspar wrote on his Instagram Story.
“I don’t ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie’s job. But during this magical and personal moment we would really appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy .. Thank you x,” he added.
