Elon Musk will no longer be the CEO of Twitter.
The 51-year-old billionaire has announced that he is stepping down as CEO of the social media platform.
He assumed the position of CEO after he finalized his purchase of Twitter back in late 2022. Since that time, Elon implemented a multitude of changes to the app which have been nothing short of polarizing.
Things got so bad that millions of users voted that Elon should step down from the position in December 2022.
Over five months after that, it seems they have finally gotten their wish.
On Tuesday (May 11), Elon took to Twitter to confirm that he already has a new CEO in the wings, ready to step in:
“Excited to announce that I’ve a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be staring in ~6 weeks.”
He shared what will be next for him as well:
“My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”
The following day he revealed the identity of the new CEO. He tweeted:
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.
Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
